What is it like to adopt? How will I find being an adoptive parent? What will my new family be like?

There's nothing like hearing it from people with real experience. That's why we’ve gathered together some of your adopter stories, so you can discover first-hand accounts of people like you who have completed their families with Coram. 

All our stories are real but some names and identities have been changed to protect anonymity. Photographs are posed by models.

    Tessa and Paolo’s story

    Tessa and Paolo cared for baby Alice from ten months old through Coram’s early permanence scheme, going on to adopt her in October 2021.

  • Rita’s story

    Rita, aged 56, is a single adopter who lives with her daughter Victoria, aged 15.

  • Connor and Dan’s story

    Connor and Dan adopted a little boy, and later his younger sister, with Coram.

    Monica’s story

    Monica, aged 45, is a single adopter who lives in North London with her two daughters, Ella, aged 9 and Maya, aged 8, adopted in 2013.

    Anne is a single woman of black Caribbean descent who adopted her two daughters through Coram in 2021 and 2022.

    Frankie's story

    Frankie cared for baby Sophie from three months old through Coram’s early permanence scheme, going on to adopt her in May 2021. Frankie and Sophie have direct contact with Sophie’s older sister Olivia and her grandparents who look after Olivia as her special guardians.
