Our support after adoption
Our pioneering Parent & Adoption Support Service offers a programme of support to adoptive families.
Our approach is primarily preventive. We aim to provide adopters with the skills for positive parenting of children who have suffered abuse, neglect or other adversity. We also offer therapeutic interventions for children and families who need this support.
How our adoption support is rated
The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO) has awarded Coram Adoption's East Midlands branch 'promising practice' status for their support services for adopted children and young people. Read the report here.
It has also validated Coram's specially adapted parenting skills programme for adoptive families, which takes into account adoptive families' particular needs and circumstances. Read more here.
What adoptive parents say
Adoptive parents attending our Incredible Years and STOP parenting skills' programmes over two years reported a significant increase in confidence about their parenting skills.
We returned to Coram for parenting support for our daughter, who had experienced a lot of disruption in her early years and took longer to settle. Their after adoption groups help you understand what your child might be feeling and how to help them build up trust in you.
